My name is Joanne Simpson, welcome to my website.

I live in the beautiful Peak District National Park in Derbyshire, with my partner Roy, three Maine Coon Cats and several feathered friends. Hence my interest in pets and animals, and my love of painting. The two combined, many years ago, lead me to produce a picture of our my own cat Tabby (sadly no longer with us). This painting was admired by friends and family who in turn asked me to paint their pets.

I have chosen to specialise in Cats and Dogs as I feel confident I can produce a perfect likeness to your pet. I am also a member of the S.A.A. and have exhibited twice at their exhibition in London. Gaining a Highly Commended award with one of my cat paintings, which I am very proud of being given, as there were hundreds of entries.I am self taught, although in recent years I have taken various classes to improve on my ability, which has given me the confidence to join the World Wide Web.

In order to commission a painting or drawing, the procedure is straight forward. An excellent quality colour photograph, preferably without the use of a flash must be provided. Other photos may also be provided and are often very useful to gain a general view of the animal, it's character and movement, though these remain for reference only. Digital photo's via email or disc are also fine. when a portrait is commissioned it is useful to speak to the pet owner and chat about the animals character, habits, to help gain an impression of personality. Basically, the more information the better the result!
